Meeting The Need
Quote... “Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible." [Charles Dickens]
- All of us like to do good for people. Yet how many of us, do good without wanting a pat on the back?
- Dickens had it sussed. Do good, and don’t tell everyone how good you’ve been. Do you see any parallels in this quote with what Jesus said in the Bible? Check this out in your spare time: Matthew 6: 1-6
- Who can you ‘do good to’ this week? Maybe there’s someone in your church or a person your family knows who can’t get out much - especially at this time of year. Is there any way you and a friend could pay a visit to this person, and simply hang out with them?
- Why not ask your Vicar or Pastor if you can spend a morning/afternoon shadowing their hospital visits or the time they spend at sick people’s houses. Decide between you, how you can really make that person feel special. What kind of a gift might they appreciate?
- Now, as you get ready for 2008 and a new year of walking with God, spend a few minutes in private prayer and ask Him to give you the strength to be a person who does good and wants no recognition for it.
