Woman Praying

leading a prayer time

Depending on your church, lead this time appropriately and be sensitive to everyone who may be present.

Some Ideas:

* Ask some of the children to give thanks for Christmas (needs to be prearranged, either by asking them to write them in Sunday School or by reading out a prayer you have written yourself).

* Check out 'Other ways to learn and tell the Christmas story' as there may be links to help involve the Children in the service more or to keep them engaged during the prayer and/or talk time.

* Ask others in the group to lead prayers about certain aspects of Christmas that your group feels needs attention; e.g helping the poor in your community at Christmas.

* Ask a Church Leader or Minister to lead this time. Explain about the service but allow them to do what they feel is appropriate

* Use the Advent Prayer by Henri Nouwen. Read through the prayer and get others involved as needed (You need to have a suitable candle that is large enough to be seen, remember to be safe – think about where you are going to put it and how you are going to light it/put it out at the end)

Sung Worship
Choose some modern songs that reflect celebration, the story of Christmas and Jesus being the Light of the World.
