Look around you!
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25 v 35-40
When was the last time you helped someone in need?
It is so easy in life to get caught up in global mission and forget the needs of the people around us. Every community has people who are in need. This may be a single mother who is struggling to provide food for her family, a man who just needs some smart clothes for a job interview or even an elderly person who hasn’t had anyone visit them in a very long time.
My challenge for you this week is to take a real look at the people living around you. What needs do they have that a currently not being met?
Maybe you could set up a system in your church where people can continually give food and clothing so you can always have a supply ready for those who need it.
You could advertise free practical help such as washing, ironing or cleaning. This could be just an hour or two of your time but could make the world of difference to a family.
Part of being a Revolutionary is helping to change how people view the followers of Christ and the Church. We need to show the world that we are willing to practice what we preach and take the love of God out into our communities. Remember what ever we do for his people, we do for him.

| | Jenny (Guest) | 21/02/2009 17:07 | | What happens if we can't see anybody on our street/community who needs help. I don't think any of our neighbours need help????
| | | Dan Brown | 23/02/2009 10:38 | | Sometimes it isn't easy to see people around who need help. When people are in need they will often try to hide it because they dont want to be seen as a failure. I would recomend that you put together a little flyer offering free help and post it through all the houses around you. my church did that and we had an amazing response.
