world leaders of tomorrow

If you could dramatically change a country that is struggling against poverty, corruption, famine or natural disasters you would do it, right?
 
The only way these countries are ever going to change is firstly through prayer and secondly by raising up a new breed of leader. These countries need people who have known what it is like to have nothing but get through it, people who understand the economy and know what needs to change and above all, people who have experienced and understand the love of Jesus.
 
I have been to Africa and met some of the most incredible young people. They are so full of potential but will struggle to come close to reaching it.
I was once speaking to a small boy in a village in Ghana. We were talking about the bible and he told me that his favourite bit that his mother read to him was Philippians 4 v 11-13. It says:
 
‘I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.’
 
These people are living in terrible conditions but have somehow learnt to be content with what they have. This doesn’t mean they don’t want a better future for themselves, it just means they praise God for what they have got rather than blaming him for what they haven’t.
 
How grateful are you for the things you have? The good news is one way that you can show that you are grateful is by giving away some of what you receive. One amazing thing you could do would be to sponsor a child. By giving a small amount of money each month you could help some children reach their full potential. Children can be sent to school, they can learn new skills, they may even be able to take their entire family out of poverty.
 
If you or your youth group or church sponsored a child you may be helping to produce one of the world leaders of tomorrow that could help turn around the whole fortunes of a country.
 
So the worst case scenario is you dramatically change the life of one individual for the better. The best case is you actually help change the world.
