Christian Aid Week

It’s Christian aid week this week. What a great opportunity this could be for serving God, helping to change the world and sharing you faith all at on time!

Christian Aid week is just a well publicised chance for raising money which goes directly to help people who are living in some of the worst conditions in the world. The money that is raised goes towards education programmes, providing food and equipment to grow their own food, health programmes, schools and emergency programmes for disaster areas.

This is amazing work and we can all be involved.

As this is a yearly campaign it is quit easy just to put a couple of quid in an envelope and wait for it to be collected when we should be thinking what an incredible chance this is to reach out to our local community. If you became a collector or put on a fundraising event you will have the opportunity to talk to some people in your local area that are sometimes missed.

There are lots of ideas and advice at www.christianaid.org.uk

Nadia Kabula’s story is told throughout the Christian Aid Week materials.
Her mother, struggling to bring up her family alone after the death of her husband, tells us: ‘It’s really hard to bring up six children on my wages. You can’t buy them half a sack of rice with that money. It’s nowhere near enough.’ The family live in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but their story of deep poverty is characteristic of the communities where our partner organisations work. Christian Aid partner Humanité Nouvelle has taught 18-year-old Nadia tailoring skills, giving her the chance to continue to earn a living in the future.
